A post-doctoral fellow position is available in the lab of Dr. Chad Steele, Professor and Chair, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Tulane University, to investigate immune pathways involved in immunoprotection vs. immunopathogenesis during acute (invasive fungal infection) and chronic (allergic fungal asthma) exposure to the opportunistic mold Aspergillus fumigatus. Specific areas of interest include novel chemokines, chitinases/chitinase-like proteins, type 17 responses and eicosanoids.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a basic science (Microbiology, Immunology or Cell Biology preferred) and experience working with mice (injections, inoculations, tissue isolation and processing), RNA isolation (from small cell populations), real-time PCR and flow cytometry (including sorting and cell culture).
